Transfer Contacts From A Non-Sim Phone to a Sim (GSM) Phone
Recently I did the yearly renew-my-wireless-contract-so-I-can-get-free-phones-or-Cash-Back. (Actually a lot of carriers are forcing people to sign 2 year contracts now which sucks.) I didn’t renew with Verizon Wireless, but switched to T-Mobile because I got a GSM (SIM) phone recently as a gift that I wanted to use that wasn’t supported on the Verizon network. It’s a Nokia N78, I’ll review it once I get to play with it enough. So in the end I got the same priced phone plan as the plan with Verizon and got 4 decent free phones for the family.
When I got home I realized I was going to have to get all my contacts over to the other phone. That was going to be a problem considering only one phone used a SIM card. I started manually plugging in the contacts one by one… got bored after the 3rd or so contact… only about 130 to go. Yeah I know that’s a lot of contacts but I don’t keep business cards so if I need to find someone for some random thing; it’s in my phone.
So to keep it short, I got bored and started poking around the phone options to find a solution other then my manually entering every contact.
Solution!
If both phones have bluetooth then you’re good to go. Connect the phones via bluetooth. On the phone with the contacts, go to options and pick “Send name card”. Then it’ll let you pick the contacts you want to send over to your new phone! This saved me 130 mind-numbing contacts to enter myself. Only took a few minutes instead of hours.
If your phones don’t have bluetooth then I don’t have a solution for you, but I think there are some programs out there that let you upload your contacts to your computer and download them onto a different phone. They probably cost money and depending on how many contacts you have on your phone, it may or may not save you very much time.
Hope everyone had a great holiday!
