Husband Demands Kidney Back From Wife In Divorce Settlement
Dr Richard Batista married, his now ex-wife, Dawnell in 2000 and in 2001, Dr Batista gave one of his kidneys in order to save his wife’s life. In 2005, his wife filed for divorce and the case has been gridlocked since.
The reason for the divorce? she cheated on him. What kind of messed up story is that? Now as part of the settlement, Dr Batista wants his kidney back or $1.5 million. Sounds reasonable to me, especially since she cheated on him in the first place. If I were him, I would want it back too.
He said he had not only given his heart to his wife, Dawnell, but donated his kidney to save her life.
“There is no deeper pain that you can ever express than betrayal from somebody who you love and devoted your life to,” he said.
But divorce lawyers say a donated organ is not a marital asset to be divided.
